Witchcraft is the brainchild of Magnus Pellander... if you know the Swedish retro/stoner/doom scene you might recognize that name from the now defunct Norrsken (R.I.P.). Witchcraft started out as a solo project but have now grown into a full-fledged band. The musicians on this recording arenīt the same as those who are in the band today, 'cept for Magnus of course...
This 7" is dedicated to Bobby Liebling from ......... (you should the name of that band!) and Roky Erickson (just like Norrsken dedicated their only 7" to Buffalo). And youīll of course spot influences from both Pentagram and Roky Erickson on this 7", thatīs a given, but just like Norrsken had the right retrosound without plagiarizing anyone, the same goes for Witchcraft... this is more of a homage which stands on itīs own two feets.
Man, I hope I get a chance to Witchcraft live soon... if they can get that retro groove going live as well itīll be quite an experience to see 'em live, 'til then I īll make do with this great 7-incher...
